聆听——[Stanford]Writing in sciences

What makes good writing?

Communicates an idea clearly & effectively

Clear:Logic Thinking & Have something to say;

Effectively: Elegant&Stylish* <--time,revision&good editor

What we can learn from this course?

A few simple, learnable rules of Style.

Steps to becoming a better writer

Read, pay attention & imitate(模仿)

Writing in a journal(日记)--Practice

Let go of "academic" writing habits (清零&去程序化)

Talk about your research before trying to write about it.

Write to engage your readers(not to bore)

Stop waiting for "inspiration"

Accept that writing is hard for everyone

Revise: Nobody gets it perfect on the first try

Learn how to cut ruthlessly(无情地): Never become too attached to your words.

Find a good editor

Take risks.

个人感受:

围绕最大价值/贡献,很Fluent地表达就好;(Fluent workflow&Clear description)

与其发布时再去绞尽脑汁于如何取悦、浮夸、遣词造句,不若踏踏实实做些什么有价值的东西。

作为思维替代品的原型,完全承担变更风险,故不必有心理负担。
