Robert Louis Stevenson was born on November 13, 1850. He spent his childhood in Edinburgh, Scotland, but traveled widely in the United States and throughout the South Seas. The author of many novels, including The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Kidnapped, The Black Arrow, and Treasure Island, he died in 1894.

Tasha Tudor (1915–2008) was a Caldecott artist with more than ninety books to her credit. She was known across the world for her glowing watercolor depictions of the American rural scene of a century ago and for her exquisite paintings of children, flowers, and animals. Tasha Tudor was also the illustrator of A Child’s Garden of Verses, The Night Before Christmas, The Springs of Joy, A Tale for Easter, A Time to Keep, The Dolls’ Christmas, All for Love, Pumpkin Moonshine, A is for Annabelle, and 1 is One, a Caldecott Honor Book.

I have never been so insulted by a publisher's work (or lack thereof). What should be a lovely, classic book for children turned to be nothing but a cheap knock-off. Starting with the author's bio page, which was titled "Jane Austen," followed by very grainy, low-quality pictures that had little to do with the subject, poem titles at the beginning and end of poems (the first poem ended with "Bed Bed in in Summer Summer), oddly placed blank pages, and poem titles at the end of one page with the poem following on the next. I was so disgusted, I couldn't even show it to my child, lest he think that this was appropriate work. Robert Louis Stevenson is probably rolling over in his grave. This edition is very poorly made! Basically copied and pasted off the internet with completely random "illustrations" added in. And then they proudly display it was made in the USA. The pictures that a "Customer" uploaded are from a different book.

This paperback is a sad joke. It is nothing like the hardback that has all the great reviews. There are only a few illustrations and none in color. The text keeps making reference to pages that perhaps refer to the hardback edition. Amazon should refund the purchase price to all those who have ordered this paperback thinking that they were getting the same pages that are in the hardback. Amazon needs to have different reviews for paperback editions. The publisher and Amazon should be deeply embarrassed by this cruel deception.

A Child's Garden of Verses is the most important book you can ever buy. It must be purchased with artwork by Tasha Tudor.. Star using this little book before the baby is 6 weeks. As you rock your tiny treasure sing the words of this little book to any melody or when they begin to respond you can read with rhythm It is delightful to remember the author wrote Treasure Island. As a former columnist for a statewide newspaper I was especially assigned to children's education.of music, literature, art,and write helps for parents. .
