Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m writing to recommend(推荐)to you the outstanding(杰出的)personality(个性)and the super(超凡的)ability for learning(学习能力)of Mr. Robert Jiang.
I got to know Mr. Jiang a few years ago while I was teaching British literature(英国文学)to a class of English majors(英语专业学生)in which he was a student. His excellent performances(出色表现)on several occasions(在几个场合)such as group discussions(分组讨论)and open debate(公开辩论)really took me by great surprise(令我大为吃惊). Never had I met a young student speaking English so fluently(流利地)and accurately(准确地). His insight(洞察力)into British literature as a whole(整体)as well as(以及)the perspectives(视角)he cut into(切入)the analysis(分析)of characters(人物)in the literature aroused(引起)my great curiosity about(对。。。的好奇心)his first-class(一流的)and unique(独特的)capability(能力)of doing research work. Later on(后来), upon his completion(完成)of the Bachelor degree, he moved on(继续)to pursue(追求，从事)his study for a Master’s degree in the same field of study(专业研究领域)and I was very lucky to be his supervisor(导师). Mr. Jiang has always been an honest(诚实的)person. He is very friendly to people and is very easy-going(性情随和的). Many of his classmates have mentioned(提到)on different occasions(在不同的场合)about how helpful(乐于助人的)he was to them and to which I simply(简直)cannot agree more(再赞成不过了).
Now Mr. Jiang is applying(申请)to your prestigious(久负盛名的)university for a chance to continue his Ph.D research(博士学位研究). I hope you’ll find he is just as good as I’m now recommending him to be.
