请问firebug $ is not defined 有关问题

请教firebug $ is not defined 问题
用firebug调试jquery的时候，老是报
$ is not defined
[在此错误处中断] $(document).ready( function() { 

感觉没有错，不知道是什么原因。有人告知一下吗？
