In the 35 years since China and Japan normalized diplomatic relationship has traveled a sometimes rocky path. And scholars from both countries are jointly investigating the history issues, hoping to reach a consensus. Perhaps even more important, despite the problems, Chinese and Japanese are finding strong cultural links, helping to foster goodwill that it is hoped will last.
