Accustomed to sketching superheroes, they not only conjure up Captain Zap and his evil nemesis Fishhead, but they actually become the characters and find themselves fighting each other. When they use their ultimate weapons--attack pencil sharpeners--the pencils are destroyed and the magic disappears. The story is a bit silly but in a completely childlike, "let's pretend" sense, and the snappy title and cartoonlike cover illustration will appeal to many primary-grade children. Kids who aren't quite ready for chapter books will find this more challenging than the average "beginning reader" title.
