内容简介 在线阅读本书
The Handbook of Chemical Technology and Pollution Control (3rd Edition) provides a detailed review of the chemistry and operating conditions of many of the present large-scale chemical processes important to our economy and high standards of living. The processes that could lead to emissions affecting our air, soil, and water are considered, together with ways in which it may be possible to reduce or eliminate these pollutants. Focusing on cleaner production concepts without neglecting 'end of pipe' measures. With an increase in the awareness of corporate and social responsibility among business and industry leaders, the pressure to reduce harmful emissions and the desire to increase efficiencies and energy utilization, this book provides an essential resource. Suitable for researchers, practitioners and postgraduate students in the fields of chemical and biochemical engineering and environmental science, as well as government monitoring and regulatory agencies and industry leaders who want to stay one step ahead, this book will be a valuable addition to any library.
* Integrated treatment of chemical technology with emission control chemistry
* Introductory outline of the causes and effects of air and water pollution chemistry
* Outline of the operating features and efficiency of basic emission control devices
* Historical background of developments in industrial chemistry to 2004 in a single volume
* Organized for easy access to chemical technology, new developments, or emission control details
* Referenced to current additional sources of information in each area covered
* Review questions provide working experience with the material provided
作者简介 Martin Hocking is currently a professor of chemistry at the University of Victoria, which has an active association with industry in its highly-rated Cooperative Education Program. Formerly he worked for eight years with Dow Chemical of Canada in research, process development, and emission control areas. Professor Hocking has published more than 70 papers and holds nine Canadian and American patentsin the fields of monomers, process chemistry, and medicine.
编辑推荐 Review "....It now has a new lease on life with Academic Press, with a number of innovations, including problem sets following each chapter, a timely quotation at the start of each chapter, and extensive new chapters on petrochemicals and polymers that remedy the one major deficiency of the first edition, which did not cover these topics at all...I recommend it highly...."

"....the author has succeeded admirably in compiling a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of the various processes. The handbook has marshalled an impressive amount of information on the selected process sectors, presented in a clear and concise manner, with the discussion on production technologies supported by a lucid explanation of the underlying chemistry and reaction routes. The style and content of the handbook will appeal as a graduate text in industrial chemistry and engineering courses...."

"... for environmental consultants and those engaged as expert witnesses on industrially related pollution problems, the information in this book will prove invaluable."
--CHEMISTRY & INDUSTRY, Issue:10, May 17, 1999.
"A valuable handbook providing user friendly access to details of the environmental impact of industrial chemical processes."
