序言 当今世界是一个以全方位交流合作为主旋律的世界，信息交流已成为世界各国全面发展的重要条件。本书是以旅游者和导游翻译人员为中心，以介绍和提供海南旅游资源信息为宗旨而撰写的，其目的就是宣传，介绍，沟通，交流。它可以给国内外旅游者以信息的帮助，给旅游服务者以学习的帮助，给旅游及外语学习者以7解的帮助，给旅游专业学者以研究的帮助。
在多方的协助和支持下，经过长时期的积累和收集、整理和翻译，这本有关海南旅游的中英文集终告完工。虽然有关海南的旅游宣传材料很多，但统一规范的权威性资料却仍然非常短缺，至于外文的资料就更是少之又少。网络给了我们方便快捷的沟通途径，但同时也给我们带来了判断真伪的难度。更因为这是一本中英对照书籍，所以其收集和编写的难度便成倍地增加。在本书的编写过程中，我们不但参考了能收集到的一些国内外网站_的有=关内容，而且还参考了国内外网络博客的一些精彩内容。各方信息瞬息万变此起彼落，网络版主风起云涌难以捉摸，故而作者特意将有关网址列于书后，谨以为谢。还有部分资料分别收集整理并翻译自国内的有关典籍和文献，具体名目均列于书后，以志谢忱。

文摘 海南省的地理状况如何？
海南省是中国陆地面积最小的省份，然而却是全国最大的海洋省，该省位于中国领土的最南端，介于北纬18°10’～20°10’，东经108°37’～111°05’之间。海南省的行政区域包括海南岛和西沙群岛、中沙群岛、南沙群岛的岛礁及其海域，其主体是中国第二大岛海南岛。
据地质资料分析，大约在100万年前，因为地壳运动地表下陷形成了琼州海峡，形成了目前的海南岛，该岛土地面积约为3.39万平方公里，比意大利西西里岛大0.83万平方公里，南北最长距离约为300公里，东西平均宽度为180公里。海南省的近海领水面积约占全国海域面积的2／3，约为21万多平方公里。
海南省属海洋季风气候区，北部则与周边省份气候相近，具有温带特征，而南部地区则因山脉与季风之故，使得其完全处于热带。在地方志的历史记载中，海南岛只在1684年出现过一次降雪，在当地属于相当重要的事件。
海南省是中国唯一的热带海洋岛屿省份，占全国热带土地面积的42.5％。海南岛年均气温为23.8℃；最热月份为7～8月，平均气温25℃～29℃；最冷月份为1～2月，平均气温10℃～24℃，日照12小时，是北方人冬季度假的真正天堂。
海南岛年降雨量在1500～2000毫米之间，5～9月降雨量占全年的70％以上，是世界上同纬度降雨最多的地区之一。海南岛具有如此丰富的光照和热源，给热带作物提供了四季生长的良好条件。全岛处处都是诱人的绿色植物，空气新鲜，远离污染。
海南岛地势为锥形，中为山峰，围以台地，地形复杂，在其特有的热带雨林地区形成了特殊的地貌特征和生态环境，诸如森林、草原、原野，入海口、红树林，岩礁、盆地、湿地和渴湖等。
在海南岛上，除北部和东西北部地区外，整个岛屿一年四季郁郁葱葱，森林覆盖率占50％以上。岛屿中部耸立着著名的黎母山和五指山，其最高峰海拔1867米，比闻名天下的东岳泰山高出300多米。海南岛内具有丰富的河流资源，水路与公路组成了岛上重要的交通网络，但是进一步详尽的水利探测与开发正在不断的进行中。
海南海岸线长约1617.8公里，多为优质沙滩，宽度在数百到数千米不等。沿岸84个港湾已开发港口20多个。沿海生长的红树林是热带海岸的标志，具有重要的科研意义和旅游价值。在海岸的游泳区域，多数海水深度不足2米，海底为细沙，绵延200米左右，而海水温度则通常保持在18℃～30℃之间。在海南岛的东北部，随着强劲海风的侵蚀，沙滩扩宽到了二三十公里，在有些地方甚至还出现了一道道的沙坝，从而形成了特殊的
